1. What we collect
Nothing. CalcMate has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, and no backend database. Everyday calculations run entirely in your web browser using JavaScript on your device. Nothing you ask is stored by us — not even a history.
2. The AI brain (for trickier questions)
Questions CalcMate’s built-in parser can’t solve are sent as plain text to our free AI provider, Pollinations.ai, which computes the answer and returns it. That’s all it gets: the question text, with no name, no account, no device identifiers and no location attached. Pollinations.ai handles the request under its own terms and privacy policy; CalcMate does not store the question, the answer, or any record that you asked.
You can avoid the AI tier entirely by phrasing questions the built-in parser handles — for example “15% of 240”, “born 15 March 1995”, “convert 5 miles to km” or “what is 12 times 8 plus 5” — in which case nothing ever leaves your device.
3. Local storage (stays in your browser)
One preference uses your browser’s localStorage, which lives only on your own device:
- Spoken-answers preference — whether the “Spoken answers” toggle is on or off, so your choice is remembered between visits.
CalcMate keeps no history of your questions. Clearing your browser’s site data removes the preference permanently. We cannot see, access, or recover it.
4. Cookies
CalcMate itself sets no cookies. If advertising is enabled in the future (e.g. Google AdSense), the ad provider may set its own cookies to serve and measure ads, subject to that provider’s privacy policy. This policy will be updated before any such change.
5. Voice input
Voice input uses your browser’s built-in Web Speech API. Transcription is handled by your browser/device (typically by the browser vendor’s speech service, per their own privacy terms). CalcMate receives only the resulting text and answers it with the same two-tier engine as typed questions — the instant parser in your browser, or the AI brain when needed (see §2).
6. Contact form
The contact form composes an email in your own email app — no message content passes through or is stored on CalcMate servers (there are none). If you email us, we’ll use your address only to reply.
7. Health answers disclaimer
BMI and similar health-related answers provide estimates for informational purposes only and are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a qualified health professional for personal guidance.
8. Children’s privacy
CalcMate is a general-audience utility that collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the “Last updated” date below will be revised and significant changes will be noted here.
